Takashi Sonoo joined the firm on December 1, 2014.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Takashi Sonoo, the former Acting Chief Judge of Tokyo High Court, joined Nishimura & Asahi as an Of Counsel on December 1, 2014.

Mr. Sonoo has been active in the front line as a judge for many years and is one of the opinion leaders, especially in the fields of restructuring and insolvency. In his days as a Department Chief Judge of Tokyo District Court (Department of bankruptcy and restructuring), he contributed to the establishment of the civil rehabilitation practice and summary bankruptcy proceedings (shogaku-kanzai-seido), which have been highly praised from various quarters as forming the basis of today’s restructuring practice.

We firmly believe that by welcoming Mr. Sonoo, we can further enrich and develop the firm's practice as a whole, besides the areas of restructuring and insolvency.
