Katsumi Chiba joined the firm on October 2016.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Katsumi Chiba, a former judge of the Supreme Court, joined Nishimura & Asahi as an Of Counsel on October 1, 2016.

Mr. Chiba was appointed as an assistant judge in 1972, and went on to hold the positions of judge of the Tokyo District Court, Director of the Civil Affairs Bureau and Administrative Affairs Bureau of the Supreme Court, Chief Judicial Research Official of the Supreme Court and Chief Judge of the Sendai High Court.
Mr. Chiba qualified as an attorney in 2016 after working as a judge of the Supreme Court from 2009 to 2016.
We firmly believe that Mr. Chiba will further enrich and develop the firm's practice as a whole, in addition to our dispute resolution practice.
