New Economic Realities in Arbitration - the Influence of the Belt and Road Initiative

Date
4 May, 2018
Venue
Kuala Lumpur Asian International Arbitration Center, Kuala Lumpur

Lars Markert gave a presentation entitled “International aBRItration of the future? - a European perspective on the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative" and, as a member of the Global Advisory Board, represented the co-organizer of the seminar, ICDR Y&I.

The panel discussion explored the flow of investments under the Belt and Road Initiative (“BRI”).  Following a review and analysis of the current trends in the arbitration market, the panelists focused on the nature and types of issues that could arise from the BRI in the upcoming years (for instance, whether involvement in BRI-related disputes will require a special background, knowledge and skills).
