Market Manipulation

Market manipulation and unfair trading such as fraud or false statements may seem irrelevant to most businesses  However, listed companies expose themselves to significant legal risk if they commit fraud or provide false statements when they disclose uncertain information or sell/buy their own stock in irregular ways.  Recently, there were several cases in which the authorities determined that fraud had been committed, on the ground that the transactions were found not to reflect reality, after evaluating the whole scheme of financing or M&A transactions.

We provide advice on how to avoid the risk of committing market manipulation or unfair trading and maintain legitimacy when a company discloses information or executes transactions.  We also conduct internal investigations on behalf of clients, provide legal interpretation, and respond to securities authorities and the media, in the case where possible market manipulation or unfair trading is found.
