Minoru Nakazato joins Nishimura Institute of Advanced Legal Studies

We are pleased to announce that Minoru Nakazato, Chairperson of The Tax Commission of Cabinet Office of Japan and former professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School for Law and Politics, joined Nishimura Institute of Advanced Legal Studies as Director on April 1, 2020.

Mr. Nakazato specializes in tax law, finance law and law and economics, and is well-versed in international taxation of financial transactions. He previously served as the Director of the Japanese Society for Tax Law and as the Chairperson of the Customs Dissatisfaction Review Committee of Japan’s Ministry of Finance, and was appointed the Chairperson of The Tax Commission of Cabinet Office of Japan after serving as a member of the Commission’s Expert Committee and Special Committee. Mr. Nakazato is currently the President of the Harvard Law School Association of Japan and an Advisor to the Asia Oceania Tax Consultants’ Association.

The Nishimura Institute of Advanced Legal Studies welcomes Mr. Nakazato to his role as Director, and looks forward to receiving advice based on his abundant academic achievements and knowledge, to contribute to the development of legal practice, which we are confident will further enrich the Institute’s theoretical / practical research, training and lectures.
