Shoichi Miyasaka joined the firm as a Senior Executive Director in December 2016.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Shoichi Miyasaka, a former Group Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., joined Nishimura & Asahi as a Senior Executive Director on December 1, 2016. Mr. Miyasaka will work together with the firm’s managing partners, who are lawyers, to manage the firm.
We firmly believe that Mr. Miyasaka will further enrich and develop the creative management of the firm in order to deliver innovative solutions to clients doing business in global and diverse markets around the world.

Profile of Shoichi Miyasaka
Mr. Miyasaka joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd in 1988. Mr. Miyasaka was involved in sales and trading of equities and bonds to both individuals and corporate clients, and he also provided support to Nomura Human Resources Development Co., Ltd. In 1995, he was seconded to Wasserstein Perella & Co. for three years, where he provided cross border M&A advisory services.
Mr. Miyasaka provided strategy consulting at Booz Allen & Hamilton (Japan) Inc., and in 2000 he managed Digipri Corporation as Director & CFO.
In 2001, Mr. Miyasaka was engaged in Concentrated Investment Strategy at SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. In 2002, he launched the Value Creation Investment business, and after serving as the Head of the Value Creation Investment Group and Head of the Concentrated Investment Department, he was promoted to President & CEO of SPARX Capital Partners Co., Ltd. in 2006.
Mr. Miyasaka advised on restructuring for Japanese companies at Alix Partners Co., Ltd. from 2010 to 2011.
From 2011 to 2016, he was Group Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., and from 2012 he was the Deputy CEO & CFO of Fast Retailing (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., CEO of UNIQLO Australia Pty Ltd, and Mr. Miyasaka set up UNIQLO’s ASEAN & OCEANIA regional headquarters in Singapore covering Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Australia and was responsible for business expansion in these 6 countries.
