Highest rankings in Chambers Global 2019

Leading Japanese law firm Nishimura & Asahi collected high honors spanning a wide variety of practices in Japan in the recently-published 2019 edition of Chambers Global, including the highest possible ranking, Band 1, for our Banking & Finance: Domestic and Corporate/M&A: Domestic practices. Nishimura & Asahi was also recognized with impressive rankings in the following practice areas: Capital Markets: Domestic, Capital Markets: Domestic: Securitisation & Derivatives, Dispute Resolution: Domestic, International & Cross-Border Capabilities (Japanese Firms) and International Trade.

The publication’s review of our firm states that: “Nishimura & Asahi is one of the leading Japanese firms with a highly international outlook, having expanded its network considerably into China and South-East Asia. The firm represents an enviable list of international clients, with a strong track record of advising US and European companies on their investments into Japan. The firm frequently advises Japanese banks and trading houses on outbound transactions, disputes and antitrust matters, with a notable upturn in outbound activity of late. Especially noted for the combined strength of its Japanese and Vietnamese offices when acting on cross-border M&A. Clients praise the firm's skills in project-managing cross-border transactions, with one client saying: ‘Not only their Japanese law expertise, but also their international legal experiences (including using foreign law firms) were very beneficial to us. That is, one-stop service is very convenient for clients. Their strength is their high capability to manage difficult legal matters.’”

In addition to the numerous rankings earned by our firm’s Japan practice, Nishimura & Asahi received recognition in a number of other key jurisdictions, including Corporate/M&A ranking in Vietnam, and the managing partner of Walalangi & Partners (in association with Nishimura & Asahi), Luky Walalangi, was recognized as a recognised practitioner for Corporate/M&A in Indonesia. Moreover, many Nishimura & Asahi lawyers were individually recognised for their outstanding work.
