Kotaro Kubo has been located abroad for nine years (U.S.A., India, and Singapore). With his professional experience, he specializes in matters related to India, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian countries, which include M&A, crisis management (compliance work), and dispute matters.
He graduated from Keio University (LL.B.) in 1999, and Columbia University School of Law (LL.M.) in 2008. He has been a registered member of the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association since 2001. He joined Nishimura & Asahi (current name) in 2001.
He was seconded to Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, New York (2008-2009), (then) Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co., New Delhi (2010-2011), and MITSUI & CO. (ASIA PACIFIC) PTE LTD., Singapore (2010-2011).
He was in charge of the establishment of Nishimura & Asahi’s Singapore Office, and served as a Co-Representative of the Singapore Office from January 2012 to March 2016. He has returned to Tokyo Office in April 2016.
His representative publications include “Singapore Entry Strategy Guide Q&A for Japanese Companies” (co-author and co-editor, Chuo Keizai-sha, Inc., 2014); “International Arbitration and Company Strategy” (co-author and co-editor, Yuhikaku Publishing Co., Ltd., 2014), and so on. He has been invited to serve as a speaker for numerous seminars dealing with the Indian and other South Asian legal systems.
