Tatsuya Tanigawa is a partner of Nishimura & Asahi, and was previously seconded to a top-tier U.S. international law firm for one year. He has represented Japanese and non-Japanese buyers and sellers in numerous cross-border commercial transactions in various industries, including stock and asset acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances, for example, Representation of Nippon Life Insurance Co. in connection with acquisition of additional shares in Australia’s MLC Ltd.(2019), Representation of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. in connection with agreement with acquisition of stake in Aflac Incorporated (2018), Business Integration among Minato Bank, Kansai Urban Bank and Kinki Osaka Bank (2017), Citigroup's sale of the retail banking business of Citibank Japan (2014-15).
Mr. Tanigawa writes and lectures widely on various legal topics, including Doing Deals in Japan: An Analysis of Recent Trends and Developments for the U.S. Practitioner (The Columbia Business Law Review Volume 2006 Number 3, 2007).
